There are several live-changing milestones that – if we’re lucky – we experience with joy and a minimal amount of stress.

Planning a wedding usually does not make that list.

One need not wonder why television shows featuring bridal meltdowns and wedding disasters attract so many viewers. Witnessing fights about finances, venues – even invitations – all have the potential to cause a momentous day into a colossal nightmare. More often than not, a bride or groom wonder aloud why they didn’t elope.

Racquel Kristi, Founder of PopBliss™ and CEO of RKristi Modern Hospitality, has created the answer to that question – and in a big way. Kristi created the PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding Experience and launched it in 2016. Her mission is to give 6 engaged, modern couples a chance to have the most unique, modern, and memorable wedding of a lifetime that aligns with their belief systems and adventurous spirits. The 2018 PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding Experience will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia from October 15 – 18.

The Long Island native became known as the “pop-up event girl” because of her penchant for assisting restaurants, retailers, and others set up short-term events. After successfully planning a wedding for a deploying soldier with less than 24 hours’ notice, Kristi realized that there were no “pop-up” wedding options for couples. She drew up a blueprint that featured multiple couples who agree to share their wedding experience…together.

The PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding Experience is comprised of 3 days of all-inclusive, secret activities featuring surprise guests, celebrities, venues and services and activities. 6 couples Unbiased community that supports your life story, a way to celebrate your space, not traditional, a way for couples to being a union without bias.

“The allure of PopBliss™ is the mystery, suspense and the excitement for everyone involved,” said Kristi. “A lot of millennials and Xennials embrace diversity and honor their lifestyles, and the PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding is designed to give them the special occasion of their dreams that reflects their values.”

Not every industry professional, sponsor, or participant can be kept under wraps for too long. Celebrity wedding planner extraordinaire Darryl Wilson will lend his vision and talents to the creation of awe-inspiring venues, and “The Voice” finalist Mike Young will serenade both the couples and wedding guests with his smooth vocal stylings at the joint reception.

All six couples participating in the 2018 PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding represent diverse partnerships, lifestyles, cultures, ethnicities, and religions – which begs this question: how can so many couples from different walks of life all agree to hand over the reins to Kristi and memorialize their wedding day with strangers?

For Free and Tarah, the decision to enter the contest was fortuitous. Within a three-month span in 2018, they both lost their mothers to illness and Free’s son was the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. Instead of planning their wedding, they were faced with making funeral logistics. After learning of a friend’s positive PopBliss experience, they decided to give it a try. When they were selected, they were overcome with relief and excitement.

PopBliss has given us hope when we had none,” said Free. “We didn’t have the mental or financial capacity to plan our wedding. Even though we don’t know what to expect, we mutually decided to step out on faith and allow someone else to help us.”

Tarah agrees. “Surviving this year – with everything that happened – increased our faith, challenged us, renewed our love, and look forward to meeting our new-found PopBliss family. Even though we haven’t met these other couples, they’re already our support system that we wouldn’t have had otherwise.”

For couple Nikki and Derick, permitting other people to plan their wedding celebration is a learning process in trust. A second marriage for both, they mutually agreed that planning a traditional wedding wasn’t appealing. Nikki is a financial planner and Derick is in law enforcement – professions which discourage spontaneity.

“Because of where we are in life, we were able to open our minds and try something new,” said Nikki. “Had I not already experienced a traditional wedding, I would want one. It’s great that PopBliss does the planning because it allows us to engage with other couples in solidarity.”

Derick admits that he is learning more about himself because of their PopBliss participation. “The unknown can be unsettling, so if you’re going to undertake this kind of adventure, you have to be emotionally secure with yourself and your future spouse. I am evolving as an individual and coming out of my shell.”

The world can live stream the three-day extravaganza and watch as the couples are whisked around the city from one surprise event and venue to the next, including: The Couples Evening, The Welcome Toast Soiree, The #BlissBrunch, The Glam and Dapper Suite, and The Luxe Pop-Up Wedding.

“PopBliss™ Luxe Pop-Up Wedding is all about inclusion,” said Kristi. “Same-sex, interracial, inter-faith couples – they’re standing with each other at the altar surrounded by their family, friends, and the world. That’s what makes this so special.”
