The Bow Street Society is a fictional group of amateur detectives operating in 1896 London. The vividly described, well-rounded characters, work together to solve cases that the police either can’t or won’t investigate.  Each Society individual member carries a unique set of skills and exceptional knowledge in their own right.  However, when they come together as a team of detectives seeking to bring justice to the streets of London, they form collaborative perfection. The team, consisting of a brilliant artist, a talented illusionist, along with an architect, and a veterinarian, the Bow Street Society prove quite formidable in their ability to solve any case which is brought to their doorstep.  Their prowess may only be paralleled by Sir Conan Doyle’s legendary duo, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.

In The Case of the Curious Client, the team is hired by Mr. Thaddeus Dorsey to locate a missing friend he knows only as ‘Palmer’.  Apparently, Palmer inexplicably fails to keep a late night appointment with Dorsey, and the latter becomes concerned about the safety of his friend, even as his own credibility is being cast into doubt.   In mere minutes after they meet Dorsey, the Society is forced to consider whether or not they’ve been sent on a wild goose chase. That is until events take a dark turn, and the team must race against time not only to solve the case, but to also save the very life of their client.

Tahnee Georgina Campbell, whose pen name is T.G. Campbell, was born just outside of London, England, over thirty years ago. Finding her love for crime fiction at an early age, she wrote her first mystery at the age of sixteen, unaware at the time that it would ultimately launch her on a creative journey that would spawn the Bow Street Society nearly 20 years later. T.G. Campbell attended the University of Winchester, in England, where she studied creative writing, Victorian fiction, and crime fiction. There, she acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies and went on to work for separate organizations assisting criminal offenders and witnesses attending criminal court. Although she is a crime fiction aficionado, her appreciation of history, and the Victorian Era in particular, drives her to undertake extensive study before beginning on a project, in order to ensure historical accuracy in the backdrop of each novel.  This involves visiting museums in and around London on a regular basis, as well as Victorian Crime events, at which she sported the Gothic red and black dress you see her in, pictured above.

Inspired by such authors as Sir Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie, Campbell looks to demonstrate how ordinary people can utilize their own knowledge & skills to solve mysteries. “By doing this, in addition to accurately recreating Victorian London (the widely recognized setting of Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories), I hoped to nurture a feeling within the reader that they too could be a Bow Street Society member regardless of their background.” she wrote recently.

Here are some testimonies from fans of T.G. Campbell’s murder mystery:
